Robin Van Persie will not travel with Arsenal on Asia Tour
Arsenal have confirmed that Robin Van Persie will not travel with the squad on their Asia pre-season tour, which will include a pre-season game against champions Manchester City who are trying to sign the dutchman. No doubt Arsène Wenger will say that Van Persie is not included in the squad due to an injury concern rather than admit he is departing the emirates.
The top 3 teams in the race for the flying dutchman, Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus have each made bids for him, which Arsenal have rejected. The Manchester offers were pitched at around £12m while Juventus was lower at £8m for a player, who will turn 29 next month and has 12 months to run on a contract that he does not intend to renew.
Arsène Wenger has stated that he will only sell his prize possession for around £20m. They have already signed the strikers Lukas Podolski from Köln and Olivier Giroud from Montpellier for a combined £24m but Wenger could be expected to spend further if and Van Persie does depart for Wengers asking price their could be another big name coming to the Emirates next season.
