SPAIN ARE CHAMPIONS!
SPAIN 4- 0 ITALY
Spain have become the first International team to win 3 major tournaments in a row by winning the 2012 European Championship, quite an achievement for a side who only won the world cup 2 years ago for the first time. They also broke the record for the highest win in a Major Final.
Spains first goal came only after 11 minutes when great work from cesc fabregas who not only set up the first goal in the world cup final two years ago, set up the first goal of the game which david silva headed in for spain to take a one goal lead.
Italy then came into the game with a few quick paced attacks, but Balotelli neither Cassano could convert. Spain was dominating possesion which if you give the Spanish too much time on the ball they will make you suffer. This led to a brilliant counter attack from Jordi Alba and David Silva played a one two pass and jordi alba running from his own half beat the offside, then slotted the ball past keeper Buffons right hand side. Spain at half time had a two goal lead.
The second half was probaly the least exciting half of football in a major final i have ever seen. Italy went down to ten men early in the second half due to Motta pulling his hamstring, italy had no more substitutions so they had to play on with ten men.
There was pretty much hardly any action in the second half until Torres beat the offside trap on and opened up his body to slot the ball in the bottom right hand corner. A very big Surprise was Jaun Mata’s tournament debut, who came on at 86 minutes later recieved a pass from Fernando Torres inside the box which he smacked the ball into the back of net, putting the game beyond all doubt.
Spain are worthy champions, final score Spain 4 Italy 0 .
